Microsoft Word – paragraph formatting – keep paragraphs together

Using word processors such as Microsoft Word is no excuse for shoddy looking text.  On the Microsoft Word Intermediate course we cover a range of methods to produce professional looking text.

Keep Paragraphs Together
Automatic page breaks can split up paragraphs of text  in the wrong places – to rectify this select by highlighting the text then go to:

Format menu> Paragraph and select Line and Page Breaks tab

Select one of the following options
Keep Lines Together
stopping a page break inside a paragraph

Keep with Next
stops a page break between an active and the next paragraph

Word Definition in Address Bar

You can find the definition of any word through your browser’s address bar.

For example type in http://answers.com/address which will take you to the answers.com website and give you the definition for address.  Simply type in the http address followed by the word you wish to look up.

Use RGB filters whilst in CMYK mode in PhotoShop

When in CMYK mode certain filters such as Render are disabled

To use in RGB mode work with CMYK preview on (Control + Y, Command + Y)

Work as usual – when finished convert the file to CMYK mode

The PhotoShop filters will then work and the colours lost when the file converted back

Move Hue slider for colour change

Move Saturation slider for intensity of colour
