DTP Training – Photoshop Training

Matting > Defringe

Positioning a cut out on top of another image / layer in Photoshop can leave a rather ragged edge around the cutout.
The effect can be improved dramatically by using the Defringe Command found under Matting.
Make sure the required layer is selected.
Go to Layer menu >Matting and select Defringe from the drop down list.
Type in the required amount of defringing such as 3 pix and press OK.
This should smooth and improve the cutout.
